Community Involvement

Employee Family Protection, Inc. is deeply committed to making a meaningful impact in our community. Our approach to volunteering is rooted in purpose, collaboration, and a genuine desire to strengthen our sense of community. Over the years, we’ve established a partnerships with Klingberg Family Centers, Connecticut FoodShare, Habitat for Humanity, The Autism Foundation, Fisher House, Midwest Food Bank, Huntington’s Disease Society of America, Food Bank of North Branford, CT/RI Blood Center, and several other organizations that are meaningful to our organization.

Community Contributions

Our contributions include both physical assistance and financial support for the many great causes we believe in. Additionally, our dedicated team volunteers for various activities such as building and painting picnic tables, assembling and donating bicycles, stocking shelves at area Food Banks and interior painting for a teenage group home. We also organize clothing drives, supply student stores, and provide donations for summer and holiday festivities.

We believe in empowering our employees to choose causes close to their hearts, and we even provide company time for them to volunteer their skills and time towards these endeavors.

    February 1979

    Employee Family Protection founded as a life insurance and benefit company by Charlie Stepnowski. EFP developed a foundation of offering “family protection” to employees.

  • 1983-1987

    1983-1987

    Service First! EFP continues expanding its geographic presence and product offerings on the overriding philosophy of service first.

  • 1999

    1999

    EFP conducts its first core enrollment, shifting the company into the benefit education industry.

  • 2006

    2006

    EFP lays the foundation for its commitment to charitable causes with the first of 10 annual golf charity events, collectively raising over $575,000 for the fight against breast cancer.

  • 2006

    2006

    Louis R Faiola joins EFP as Principal and VP of Sales.

  • 2010

    2010

    Michael C Stepnowski becomes President of EFP.

  • 2014

    The Company conducts its first core enrollment built on technology configured entirely by the EFP team.

    EFP begins development of our own benefit billing, enrollment, and management platform, Verko.

    EFP proudly attains its inaugural SOC 2 certification, a testament to our ongoing commitment to upholding the highest standards of data and privacy security. This certification and the accompanying recognition reflect our unwavering dedication, reaffirmed annually.

    Verko marketplace is established with insurance carrier partners.

    EFP awarded Mployer Advisor’s Top Employee Benefits Consultant 2022 for CT.

    EFP accomplishes its 4th consecutive year of SOC 2 certification while adding an additional compliance regulation to be awarded with the coveted SOC 3 certification. SOC 3 confirms EFP’s trust and confidence in protected data entrusted to our team.
